A Cochrane analysis of the most recent available data found that therapies, including cognitive behavioral training (CBT), mental and physical relaxation, and others were superior to no intervention. The study included 117 researches on the impact of various therapies on stress reduction, 89 of which were new.

A total of 11,119 healthcare workers from around the world were randomly assigned to different interventions. Stress was measured using questionnaires that measured stress symptoms in the short term (up to three months after an intervention ended), the medium term (between three and 12 months), and the long term (more than a year after the intervention completed).

Several strategies used to concentrate attention on the stress included CBT and training in assertiveness, coping, and communication skills. Exercise, massage, acupuncture, relaxation, mindfulness meditation, and listening to music were all used to divert attention away from the tension.

The researchers sought to test whether different treatments reduced stress better than no intervention. In the research, healthcare professionals reported low to moderate stress levels and burnout, which can lead to physical and mental problems.

Experts discovered that healthcare personnel could lessen stress through individual-level therapies such as cognitive behavior training, exercise, or music listening. The impact might continue for up to a year, and a combination of therapies could be advantageous. On the other hand, the long-term consequences of stress management therapies are uncertain.

According to studies, 30% to 70% of physicians and nurses and 56% of anaesthesiologists experience burnout symptoms due to their employment. Previous studies have tended to concentrate on a single sort of intervention in specific categories of healthcare providers. Due to high turnover rates, healthcare workers are scarce, and an effective stress and burnout program may assist in alleviating this.
